Presentation Title: Culture, Work and Subjectivity – Transforming the workplace culture. What is the role of ICTs?
Francisco Cos-Montiel is UNWOMEN’s Economic Empowerment Policy Advisor for the Asia Pacific Regional Office. He provides technical assistance on policy and programme initiatives that bring positive changes for women in the realms of economic participation, redistribution of care responsibilities and economic decision-making. His expertise spans the fields of macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis and includes the socio-cultural constraints to women’s economic empowerment.
He is an expert in evidence-based policy making and the politics of implementation. He is well acquainted with world class research communities and policy circles across the world. Before joining UNWOMEN, Francisco followed a distinguished career in the public service at the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs in Mexico and in Canada at the prestigious International Development Research Centre (IDRC), where he spearheaded the Growth and Economic Opportunities for Women initiative (GrOW), a five-year research program that aims to generate new evidence on women’s economic empowerment, gender equality, and economic growth in Asia.
Francisco holds a PhD (gender studies) and an MSc (social policy and planning in developing countries) from the London School of Economics. He speaks Spanish, French, English, Portuguese, Italian and some German and Thai.
